About this resort
The eclectic Ambos Mundos Hotel was built in the late 1920's and it is an intimate and cozy place that stands out because of its history. In the early 1930's, the American writer, Ernest Hemingway, stayed in this hotel and, in the room 511, he wrote the first chapter of For whom the bell tolls since he found the hotel "a good place to write".
The Hotel Ambos Mundos is ideally located in the centre of the restored area of Old Havana, this beautifully restored (even down to the pink facade) hotel offers elegance in all of its rooms. The hotel retains its 1930s atmosphere with the antique Otis metal-cage elevator, lobby made entirely of wood and the original marble staircase. Cool, elegant lounge, and wonderful views from the roof terrace.
The air-conditioned bedrooms are small but comfortable with private bath, minibar, national and international telephone access, safety deposit box and satellite TV. It has a good restaurant on the sixth floor and a cafe-bar on the first floor. The 54 room hotel is surrounded with cobblestone squares, leafy parks, cathedrals, cafes, restaurants, museums, theatres, cigar factories, a wonderful piano bar, and more! There is no swimming pool.
